DNF Reads of 2011 (Part 2)

August
Key to Conflict by Talia Gryphon (UF)
Reason for picking: It caught my eye at the used bookstore.
Reason for DNF: I didn't connect with the main character.

Vampire Crush by A.M. Robinson (YA) & Entwined by Heather Dixon (YA)
Reason for picking up: More library grabs.
Reason for DNF: They just didn't grab my attention. Vacation may have played a small part, but I read and enjoyed three other books on the trip.

Allison Hewitt is Trapped by Madeliene Roux (UF)
Reason for picking up: Zombie story told through blog posts.
Reason for DNF: Zombie story told through blog posts. I thought it would be interesting. It ended up just being a bit annoying.

September
Sweetly by Jackson Pearce (YA)
Reason for picking up: I enjoyed Sisters Red.
Reason for DNF: It was due back to the library. I plan to pick it up again.

October (none)

November
Drink, Slay, Love by Sarah Beth Durst
Reason for picking up: The blurb included the main character being stabbed by a unicorn.
Reason for DNF: The main character's attitude rubbed me the wrong way.

December
Blood Trinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon & Dianna Love (UF)
Reason for picking up: It had been on my TBR shelf for a while. I started reading it while waiting in the long line at the signing.
Reason for DNF: I had too many review commitments at the time (and should've brought one of those to the signing). I put this book aside so I wouldn't fall behind, and I plan to pick it up again.

The Rift Walker by Clay & Susan Griffith (steampunk)
Reason for picking up: I enjoyed The Greyfriar.
Reason for DNF: The beginning dragged and bounced between POVs a bit too quickly and often. I hope to go back to this one as well.

Radiant Desire by Inara Scott (PNR)
Reason for picking up: It sounded like an interesting take on faeries.
Reason for DNF: I didn't connect with the heroine or the hero.

Modelland by Tyra Banks (YA)
Reason for picking up: I had to know.
Reason for DNF: It was beyond ridiculous. I made it over 200 pages (and I think it clocks in at 600+), but couldn't take it anymore. There was too much detail, not enough happening, flat characters, and did I mention the ridiculousness? Plus, many details were very unoriginal, such as SansColor being the city where the albinos live or Canne Del Abra being the city where candles are made.
