In My Mailbox (93)

Thanks to Kristi at The Story Siren for hosting In My Mailbox every week.

In the wake of the bad news about Borders, I got depressed and went to say goodbye... Which involved picking up five books. I'm so naughty. And then, at Jeannie Holmes' signing today, I found Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld (hardcover) for $6 and couldn't stop myself. I've been pretty bad about my book buying ban this week, and it may be easier if I limit myself to one to two must-haves per paycheck. That seems a bit more reasonable.

  2. I love your haul! (Well, I own half of it and want to buy the rest, soo.. haha) I seriously need to read Jeannnie Holmes, Nicole Peeler's and Jenna Black's novels asap. Got some of them these last few weeks, too. :)

    Happy Reading,

  3. Im also very sad about the Borders news. But Im purposely NOT going there to be sad in person until Ive got spare change to buy up big! lol I love Borders. Where will i go now to just luxuriate in new books? I love Kindle too, but its not quite the same...

  4. I agree that limiting yourself to one or two books seems more reasonable than an all out book ban. Every week I say I won't buy anything else and concentrate on reading what I have but it never works!

  6. I am still suffering my depression with Borders closing as well!

And wow! You found some titles that aren't going to be released til Tuesday!! Awesome!

And certainly envious that you got to go to a Jeannie Holmes signing! She almost came to my city but things didn't pan out. :(

    Happy Reading!

  7. Grace, thanks for stopping by! I checked out your IMM, lots of great books!

Patricia, I've been trying not to buy the new book in a series if I'm not caught up (like with Jenna Black and Nicole Peeler... I've only read book one of each series), but I just couldn't help myself.

Lani, I know, right? I dislike Barnes & Noble. Everyone I know that isn't an avid reader is always like, "Well, B&N is still there..." They just don't get it. And the only Books-A-Million around here has very poor customer service and shoves religion in your face a bit. So I'm definitely a sad panda.

My keeper shelf, I've come to realize that I can't ban myself completely either. There's always gonna be a book that I HAVE TO HAVE. Like when the next Richelle Mead or Jennifer Estep comes out. As long as I'm not spending money on books the way I used to, I'll be good.

    Megan, thanks for stopping by!

Jessica, I didn't realize any of the books I grabbed were early until I got home. I've been trying not to buy books, so I've been trying to ignore anything about new releases. I guess they were thinking, why keep them in the back when we're trying to sell everything ASAP. I was excited for the Jeannie Holmes signing, and it was only an hour away! It was very informal (no reading or Q&A), but it was still great to meet her.
