In My Mailbox (90)

Thanks to Kristi at The Story Siren for hosting In My Mailbox every week.

So, after taking an inpromtu week off from blogging, I'm back with a huge mailbox that encompasses two weeks worth of books. One of the used bookstores I frequent was having an overstock sale, so I walked out of there with 16 books for about $30. Then I went to the other used bookstore with my girlfriend and we walked out with 10 more books (after trading in 11). I did not include them all, because some were for Christen, but I included all of the books I would want to read (regardless of who paid for it). Due to the large amount, I decided not to include a picture of the used books.

I also splurged on new releases a little bit more than usual. Due to some bad news, our financial situation is going to be changing drastically around Labor Day, so I have decided to go on a book buying ban, along with a latte buying ban. This will give me a chance to make a dent in my massive TBR mountain, and save money. So after my two final trips to Borders being last Saturday and yesterday, and after getting three final lattes (Starbucks on Thursday, Seattle's Best and Barnies yesterday... No wonder I stayed up until 3am...), I am officially not spending any more money on these items. There may be weeks in the future in which there is no IMM if I have not received anything for review, from giveaways, or the library. Anyway, enough rambling... On to the books!

  2. Yeah, it was my final splurge (minus a couple pre-orders that will make they're way here over the next week or two). The best part with the used books is between the sale at one store and the clearance section and trade-ins at the other, most of them were only about $1 each. That's how I rationalize coming home with so much. Lol. :) I'll be sure to stop by and check out your post tomorrow!

  3. My IMM was huge this week. Tons of signings in NYC. Lots of YA books and Ann Aguirre was signing. So happy. Will have my IMM-I call it a Goodie bag tommorow.

  4. Were you able to get Kindling Moon through Borders? I went to my local Borders to buy it, they didn't have it. When I looked it up on their computers, it said order online only. So I bought The white trash zombie book instead. I wanted to walk out the door with a book - not order it and wait. :)

Good luck with your reading and the book ban - I hate when I can't buy books, go through this weird withdrawal thing. :)

  6. Mardel, I purchased my copy of Kindling the Moon at B&N because it's much closer to my house (now that the Borders over here closed) and I didn't want to drive across town that night. But when I went to the only Borders left in town on Friday, they had Kindling the Moon on the shelf. I have found in the past that their computers will still say pre-order on Tuesdays, but it often in the back. Never our Borders closed, all of the employees knew that if I was at the computer, they would end up searching for something for me.

Grace, that's awesome about the signings! We don't have nearly enough down ere in FL.

My keeper shelf, Dead on the Delta was amazing. I should be posting my 5 Star review in the next week or so.
