Oviedo - Borders
8285 Red Bug Lake Road
Oviedo, FL 32765
Meet authors Melissa Marr, Jeaniene Frost, Mark Del Franco, Rachel Vincent, and Jennifer Lynn Barnes at Borders as they discuss and sign their latest releases.
Even though I live really close to this Borders, I'm currently going to school two hours away. So after my exam ended on Friday, me and Christen drove two hours to my house just for this event. I also brought some stuff I didn't need home to make moving next weekend easier, but that was just an added bonus.
So anyway, when we got to Borders, I immediately bought a copy of Melissa Marr's Fragile Eternity. I had also brought five other books to get signed. My mom joined us even though she only reads regular mysteries. I'm surprised she joined us.
The authors introduced themselves and then started taking questions. Some questions were aimed at a specific author, but most were just general questions. Melissa Marr kept it very structured by having them all answer the general questions down the line, although she did jump in occasionally. She really likes to talk, but that's ok because I really enjoyed listening to them all. Christen asked a question about how they deal with writer's block, and we got some pretty crazy answers.
After about an hour and a half of questions, they opened it up for the book signing. It was a little caotic because there was a line for each author. Melissa Marr's line was longest because the event was promoted as her event.
First I got my three Night Huntress novels signed by Jeaniene Frost. She was very sweet and actually surprised that Halfway to the Grave (book #1) is my favorite. Apparently most people chose #2 or #3.
Next I went around to get Pride signed by Rachel Vincent. She also signed some bookmarks for me and Christen. I thanked her again (since I had originally thanked her by e-mail) for the chocolate and the book she sent last week since I won a contest on her blog, and she thought it was cool.
Last, I got Ink Exchange and Fragile Eternity signed by Melissa Marr. By this time her line wasn't as long. Christen and I picked out wrist bands from her swag bag. I got a solitary band, and Christen got a High Court band. Neither of us got the one with the extras, but that's ok. She loved our piercings and tattoos.
Today, I picked up Mark Del Franco's first two books. After hearing him talk, I really want to give them a shot. I won't be getting to Fragile Eternity until later on in the summer. I want to reread Wicked Lovely and Ink Exchange first, and I have to wait for the copy of Wicked Lovely that I have on hold from the library because I don't have my own. (I'm weird and want a hardcover copy, since my other two are in hardcover...)
All in all, very awesome night. I wish I could've gone to the public signing at RT too, but I guess I'll have to wait until next year.
